Terrace Plaza Playhouse (99 E 4700 S, Ogden) will be holding auditions for their production of:

A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM

Please prepare 16 bars of an upbeat Broadway Style song. An accompanist, CD player, and an ipod dock will be available. No Acapella auditions. All roles are available. No one under age 16. Fast-paced, witty, irreverent and one of the funniest musicals ever written-the perfect escape from life's troubles. A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from time-tested, 2000 year old comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville. The result is a non-stop laugh-fest in which a crafty slave (Pseudolus) struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan (Philia) for his young master (Hero), in exchange for freedom.

Pseudolus: Playful, comic ringmaster of the show and slave to Hero - any age/gender

Hero: Young son of Senex who falls in love with the virgin, Philia. - 20-30

Philia: A virgin in the house of Marcus Lycus, and Hero's love interest. - 18 - 25

Senex: A henpecked, sardonic Roman Senator, father of Hero - 40-60

Marcus Lycus: A purveyor of courtesans - ageless

Domina: Overbearing wife of Senex, mother of Hero - 35-60

Erronius: Neighbor in the house to the right. - 40-80

Miles Gloriosus: A captain in the Roman army - 25-50

Hysterium: Chief slave in the house of Senex. - 25 - 60

Proteans: Choristers who play multiple roles (slaves, citizens, soldiers, and eunuchs). - 25 - 60

THE COURTESANS: Tintinabula, Panacea, The Geminae (two), Vibrata, Gymnasia - 18-35

A FUNNY THING ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM will perform every Friday, Saturday and Monday night from December 31, 2011 - February 11, 2012.
