As part of the UtahPresents 2016-17 season, Taylor Mac will perform A 24-Decade History of Popular Music: 1946-1976 at Kingsbury Hall on Saturday, January 14 at 7:30PM.

Taylor Mac is a playwright, actor, singer-songwriter, performance artist, director and producer. "A critical darling of the New York scene" (NY Magazine), TimeOut NY has called Mac, "One of the most exciting theater artists of our time." The Village Voice named Taylor the Best Theater Actor in New York (2013) and Best Male Vocalist (2015).

Mac performed the epic A 24-Decade History of Popular Music, in New York in October, over a full 24-hour period, to rave reviews, with The New York Times proclaiming, "Normally, he's a star. This weekend he was a solar system." The performance has been named to three New York Times Best of 2016 lists, including Best Theatre and Best Performance.

The project, which was developed in part at The Sundance Institute Theatre Lab, features 246 songs that were popular in United States from 1776-2016. For the Salt Lake City show, Taylor will perform three decades of the 24-Decade piece, from 1946 - 1976, which will include the March on Washington, the Civil Rights Movement, and the Stonewall Riots. The performance is presented in partnership with the University of Utah's Office for Equity and Diversity and will kick of MLK week on campus.
