Opera House Ballroom Announces January Lineup, Including Ladysmith Black Mambazo

By:

Sun 1/22 An Evening w/Timothy B. Schmit of The Eagles (8:30p)($35-85)[All Ages (no babes in arms)]
It's been seven years since Timothy B. Schmit released his last album. The standard opening question is: "Why did it take so long?"

The standard Schmit answer to most questions is funny in a self-deprecating way and rooted in simple truths. So of course he answers, "I wasn't ready until now!"

Patience is a virtue. And with a career that unfolds back to the halcyon 1960s, patience has served this storied artist well. He was in his teens when he charted for the first time. At the turn of the decade he joined POCO and helped steer the band into its pioneering fusions of country, rock and folk. In 1977 he became a member of the legendary EAGLES, an association that would continue on and off for decades.

Mon 1/23 Jesse Cook (8:30-11:30p)($25-55) [All Ages (no babes in arms)]
For Jesse Cook, music has been a journey. Sonically and literally. After two decades of criss-crossing the world in restless pursuit of inspiration, innovation and collaboration, the Paris-born, Toronto-raised Cook changed course for his ninth studio album "One World". Instead of a foreign legion of performers, he relied on his own devices. And instead of exploring cul de sacs of music - flamenco, classical, rumba, world beat, pop, blues or jazz - he united them.

Wed 1/25 Ladysmith Black Mambazo (8:30-11:00p)($30-55) [All Ages (no babes in arms)]
For over 50 years, South Africa's Ladysmith Black Mambazo has warmed the hearts of audiences worldwide with their uplifting vocal harmonies, signature dance moves and charming onstage banter. With a deep respect for both their cultural and personal history, Ladysmith Black Mambazo is ever-evolving with an eye toward their long musical legacy. Their mission is to pass along the tradition of storytelling and spreading their message of peace, love, and harmony to millions of people.
