Capital Stage presents a limited run of David Sedaris' THE SANTALAND DIARIES - Adapted by Joe Mantello. In time for the holidays, Capital Stage continues its ninth season THE HOMEFRONT with a production perfect for the humbug in all of us! For mature elves only, this play expresses the many frustrations associated with the season's festivities with the kind of candid wit any adult will appreciate.

THE SANTALAND DIARIES: TONIGHT, December 4-29, 2013

THE SANTALAND DIARIES is a brilliant evocation of what a slacker's Christmas must feel like. Out of work, our slacker decides to become a Macy's elf during the holiday crunch. At first the job is simply humiliating, but once the thousands of visitors start pouring through Santa's workshop, he becomes battle weary and bitter. He grins and bears it, occasionally taking out his frustrations on the children and parents alike.

This wickedly funny tale is based on the outlandish, and true, chronicles of humorist and best-selling author David Sedaris' experience as Crumpet the Elf in Macy's SantaLand display. Witty, sardonic and unpredictable, mercilessly cutting through the Christmas spirit to point out the insane things we humans do during the holidays, Sedaris stands up for the Grinch in each of us.
