The B Street Theatre, Sacramento's Resident Professional, New Works Theatre, is pleased to announce its riveting 2011-12 B-3 Series productions. B Street's newest and highly acclaimed series, entering its fifth year, features contemporary plays for sophisticated theatregoers. The B3 Series operates in B Street's smaller theatre, seating just over 100 adults in order to provide an intimate theatre experience presenting four to five fresh shows each season. The B3 series is recommended for mature audiences. Shows are subject to change.

Red By John Logan
Red, winner of the 2010 Tony Award for Best New Play, portrays the dynamic relationship between an artist and his creations. A raw and provocative portrait of Mark Rothko, master abstract expressionist, whose artistic ambition and vulnerability clash as he tries to create a definitive work for a historic mural commission in the extraordinary setting of the Four Seasons in New York.

Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them By A. Rey Pamatmat
This quirky coming of age story examines how a motherless pair of siblings makes their way in the grown up world while balancing their deep need to experience a real childhood. Edith takes aim at growing up, staying young and falling in love with withering accuracy.

The Walworth Farce By Enda Walsh
Disguised as an old-fashioned, high farce, a father insists that his two sons ritually enact with him a vaudevillian version of their shared history. Family lore isn't just innocently passed down. It's carefully scripted and regularly rehearsed to desperately comic consequence.

Freud's Last Session By Mark St. Germain
A humorous and spirited debate between legendary psychoanalyst Dr. Sigmund Freud and rising novelist C.S. Lewis, addresses the greatest questions of all time. Set at the onset of England's entrance into World War II, Freud's Last Session is a deeply touching play filled with humor and intelligence.

More about B Street Theatre: B Street Theatre is a non-profit, professional theatre company producing primarily new work for adults, families, and children. The two-theatre playhouse on B Street in Midtown Sacramento is home to the Mainstage Series, B3 Series, and Family Series, each created to feature intimate, quality theatre for audiences year-round. Recognized as one of Northern California's top professional theatres, B Street Theatre has produced more than 100 new plays, 60 of which are world, national, West Coast, or regional premieres.

B Street Theatre was originally founded in 1986 for the purpose of bringing the excitement of live performance to children through a program known as Fantasy Theatre, which is now called the B Street Theatre School Tour. This educational outreach program serves over 200,000 students in Northern California annually.

Other B Street Theatre programs include the B Street Theatre Family Series and Family Series Student Matinees (for school field trips), the B3 Series, B Street Acting Conservatory and Studio for Young People, and the B Street Theatre Internship program for pre-professional/post-college training.

B Street Theatre has produced over 250 professional productions since 1986.
