The White Plains Performing Arts Center play reading series that features the Tony Award-winners for "Best Play" since the award's creation in 1948 continues with this months' reading of Thomas Heggen & Joshua Logan's Mister Roberts on Friday, September 26 at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $10 each. The Nakd Stage Play Reading Series features actors with scripts in hand, no sets, costumes or props. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE WORDS.

Lt. Doug Roberts is chief cargo officer, patriot, champion of the common sailor, and a born leader. Mr. Roberts, as he is known to the crew, is continually butting heads with the ship's nutty, cruel, and ambitious Captain. He joined the war to fight; he hates being inactive almost as much as he hates the Captain. This rowdy, realistic saga of a group of American sailors aboard a Navy cargo vessel in the Pacific shows the crew suffering from that deadly boredom that is part of the routine of war.

The cast includes Alex Arlotta, Matt Benincasa, David Berman, Nathan Charles, Philip J. Cutrone, Ross DeMarco, Ron Guberman, Collin Helmers, Nick Leshi, Mike Lichtstein, Keith Maxwell, Jeff Raab, Michele Salustri, Anthony Valbiro, Mike Williams with John Anthony Lopez as The Captain and David Sevensky as Lieutenant Roberts.

This staged reading of Mister Roberts is directed by Philip J. Cutrone.

Join us as we rekindle memories of great, award-winning plays and focus on the powerful words and intentions of amazing playwrights.

The next two playreadings are T.S. Eliot's The Cocktail Party on October 23 and The Diary of Anne Frank on November 20. All show times are 8:00 pm and all tickets are $10.

The performances are at the White Plains theatre, located on the third level of City Center off Mamaroneck Avenue in downtown White Plains.
