Shades Rep to Present THE INFORMER at Haverstraw Youth Theater, 6/12-14
Shades Repertory will present The Informer, a play by Joseph P. McDonald. Adapted from Liam O'Flaherty's classic novel, The Informer is set in the aftermath of the Irish Civil War, illuminating the tragic conflict that continues to divide Ireland today.
It is a story of Gypo Nolan (Andrew Whitney), a brute of a man in need of food and shelter, who informs on a comrade wanted by the authorities. Nolan is hunted by Dan Gallagher (Robert Vazquez), the leader of the outlawed Revolutionary Organization, as he roams Dublin's pubs and brothels in search of shelter and solace. Directed by Samuel Harps, The Informer is a drama that explores political betrayal, retribution and salvation.

Joseph P. McDonald (Dramatists Guild) has had several plays produced in New York City. Among them are the full length dramas Women of Armagh, Pieces Of Lightning and A Reed In The Water , which was presented at the Abingdon Theater in NYC. He has written librettos for A Tale Of Two Cities produced at the Helen Hayes Performing Arts Center and Rasputin, The Musical. Current projects include an adaptation og Liam O'Flaherty's classic novel, The Informer and a bizarre tale entitled Tete a Tete.
Shades Repertory Theater was established in 1994 to address the need for new works by new and established playwrights. Our One-Act Play Festivals, and short film Festivals have featured new works by new and established playwrights and filmmakers from across the country, with particular focus in Rockland County, and the Tri-State area.
The Informer will perform on June 12th, 13th and 14th at 8 pm at Haverstraw Youth Theater, 64 New Main Street in Haverstraw, NY. Tickets are $12.00 in advance; $15.00 on day of the show.
