LOVE/SICK by Broadway's John Cariani Launches Arc's The Next Stage Tonight

By:

Pleasantville theater company Arc Stages announces John Cariani's LOVE/SICK as the debut production for their professional company, The Next Stage.

The Next Stage premiered earlier this year and will focus on showcasing new, innovative work by a wide variety of exciting and talented authors. It is the third wing of a company that also includes a thriving Educational Stage and Community Stage.

Love/Sick is the follow up to Cariani's critically-acclaimed Almost, Maine, and is a one-act play which explores the intricacies love and loss.

Also an actor, John Cariani is currently starring as Nigel Bottom in the Tony-nominated SOMETHING ROTTEN! on Broadway.

Performances will be held at Arc Stages, located at 147 Wheeler Avenue in Pleasantville NY. Schedule: Tonight, September 25 at 8pm; Saturday, September 26 at 8pm; Sunday, September 27 at 7pm; Friday, October 2 at 8pm; Saturday, October 3 at 8pm; Sunday, October 4 at 7pm; Friday, October 9 at 8pm; Saturday, October 10 at 8pm; and Sunday, October 11 at 2pm. Tickets are $36 for adults, $28 for students/seniors. To purchase tickets, visit www.arcstages.org or call 914-747-6206.

Love/Sick is directed by Stephanie Kovacs Cohen and stars Katie Hartke*, Caroline Kinsolving*, David Lanson, and Collin Smith*.

A darker cousin to Almost, Maine, John Cariani's newest play, Love/Sick, is a collection of nine slightly twisted and completely hilarious short plays. Set on a Friday night in an alternate suburban reality, Love/Sick explores the pain and the joy that comes with being in love. Full of imperfect lovers and dreamers - from a couple of obsessive/impulsives who can't stop kissing each other to the guy who goes hysterically deaf at the sound of the words "I love you" to the power couple who realize that they forgot to have the baby - Love/Sick is an unromantic comedy for the romantic in everyone.

Arc Stages is a community-based theatre company with the overall objective of providing an artistic haven for people of all ages. It is comprised of three stages, reaching children and adults at all levels. At the Educational Stage, students (youth and adult) can explore the world of theatre though a professional rehearsal process, master classes, outreach and intensive ensemble work. The Community Stage offers actors and singers from all walks of life the best in classical American musicals and dramas. The Next Stage is an innovative professional group that focuses on showcasing new and original works, but also features cabaret, workshops, and readings, and a playwriting festival.
