White Plains Performing Arts Center presents BLACKOUT NYC A CAPPELLA with Special Guest FOR GOOD MEASURE of Scarsdale High School on Saturday, May 9 at 8:00 pm. BLACKOUT NYC A CAPPELLA is reinventing the genre of a cappella music with innovative arrangements and a distinct, signature sound, delivering high-energy performances with a contemporary twist.
Since entering the a cappella scene in June 2012, BLACKOUT NYC A CAPPELLA has grown into a group that is larger than the sum of its parts. They have had the honor and privilege of performing for organizations such as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) and the Super Bowl Host Committee; they've joined fellow members of the a cappella community on stages across the city and their studio recordings have been selected for professional a cappella compilation albums. BLACKOUT NYC A CAPPELLA has performed at a variety of venues throughout New York City including The Highline Ballroom, The Bitter End, Arlene's Grocery and The Time Out Lounge. The White Plains Performing Arts Center is pleased to host their first appearance in Westchester County.
BLACKOUT NYC A CAPPELLA is comprised of twelve singers with unique and diverse backgrounds, both musically and professionally. Despite these differences, they come together to make something incredible. Join us for their a cappella twist on hits by Cee Lo Green, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Daft Punk and more.
FOR GOOD MEASURE, Scarsdale High School's award-winning Co-ed A Cappella troupe, is the only co-ed a cappella troupe in Scarsdale High School, FOR GOOD MEASURE fills all of Scarsdale with music! The group was started by Jessica Chayes during the 2001-2002 school year, and has existed in either co-ed or all-girl incarnations since then. Comprised of both male and female voices, the troupe has left its mark on the Scarsdale community through performances at sports games, a cappella competitions, shows, Valentine's Day Sing-a-Grams, and during the holidays. In addition, FOR GOOD MEASURE has performed in concerts with groups from Yale University, Dartmouth College, Binghamton University, and Kenyon College. FOR GOOD MEASURE's repertoire includes a variety of song types, including oldies as well as contemporary pop songs. The group is not only talented, but always makes their performances fun to watch for all types of audiences.
BLACKOUT NYC A CAPPELLA with FOR GOOD MEASURE performs on Saturday, May 9 at 8:00 pm at the White Plains Performing Arts Center located on the third level of City Center off Mamaroneck Avenue in downtown White Plains. Tickets are $25 (adults) and $20 (students 22 and younger).
