Trinity Repertory Company has announced that they have received a $50,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to the theater and its programming. Through this award, Bank of America is recognizing the economic impact Trinity Rep's performances and educational programs have on the region. The grant is part of a national multi-million dollar investment by Bank of America to create economically vibrant communities that are better places in which to live and do business.

Curt Columbus, Trinity Rep's Richard L. Bready Artistic Director, said, "We are grateful that Bank of America has long recognized the importance of Trinity Rep's work in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts through our acclaimed education programs. This year's grant further recognizes the impact that the theater has on our community. Their funding will be used for general operating support, allowing Trinity Rep to achieve our mission of providing dramatic art and arts learning experiences that stimulate, educate, and engage our community in a continuing dialogue."

"A thriving arts and culture sector helps to attract and retain businesses and fuel the local economy in a way that is accessible and enjoyable for everyone," said William Hatfield, Bank of America Rhode Island Market President. "Trinity Repertory Company has been a cultural and economic hub for decades, and we know these dollars will be put to good use."

As the largest non-profit performing arts organization in the state, Trinity Rep plays a vital role in the local economy and the cultural vibrancy of the region, reaching audiences and students from across New England. Approximately 130,000 people come to Trinity Rep each year. This includes theater attendees (during the 2011-2012 season nearly 127,000 people attended 367 Trinity Rep performances, 22 booked-in performances, and dozens of student performances throughout the year); students (Brown/Trinity MFA programs, adult classes, and K-12 after-school/summer programs); employees (more than 100); and volunteers (more than 400). The Americans for the Arts' Arts & Economic Prosperity Calculator estimates Trinity Rep's annual economic impact at nearly $12 million, supporting 340 FTE jobs throughout the community.

In 2012 Trinity Repertory Company launched the Theater for Every Generation campaign in order to preserve Trinity Rep's unique vision and values for future audiences. The campaign is chaired by Suzanne Magaziner, and has an honorary campaign board, headed by co-chairs Elizabeth Z. Chace and Nuala Pell, and consists of local and nationally-renowned actors and artistic luminaries, (including 2009 Pell Award-winner Kevin Spacey), valuable supporters of Trinity Rep, state legislators, and past artistic directors of Trinity Rep.
