Trinity Repertory Company Receives $250,000 Gift from Richard L. Bready

By:

Trinity Repertory Company has announced that it has received a $250,000 gift from former Nortek CEO and arts enthusiast Richard L. Bready to support its Theater for Every Generation Campaign. In celebration of this generous commitment, Trinity Rep's artistic director position, held by Curt Columbus, will be named "The Richard L. Bready Artistic Director" through June 2015.

With this gift, Bready is challenging the community to make their commitments to the theater's $18 million campaign this fall. Between now and December 31st, he will triple the impact of new gifts to the theater by offering a 2-to-1 match for every new dollar given to Trinity Rep in support of the Theater for Every Generation campaign, up to $125,000.

"I am thrilled and honored that Rick has invested in our work," said Columbus. "As we approach our 50th Anniversary, this campaign's commitment to ensuring the legacy of Rhode Island's state theater feels more vital than ever. Rick's enthusiasm shows us that our community values our last 50 years of great theater, as well as the theater we'll make in the next 50 years."

Bready is equally enthusiastic. "In times like these it's invaluable for those of us who can to reaffirm our commitment to the arts," he said. "I've been involved with Trinity Rep on many levels over the years, and I want to do my part to make sure it's around for years to come."

Trinity Repertory Company launched the Theater for Every Generation campaign in 2010 in order to preserve Trinity Rep's unique vision and values for future audiences. The campaign is chaired by Suzanne Magaziner, and has an honorary campaign board, headed by co-chairs Elizabeth Z. Chace and Nuala Pell, and consists of local and nationally-renowned actors and artistic luminaries, (including 2009 Pell Award-winner Kevin Spacey), valuable supporters of Trinity Rep, state legislators, and past artistic directors of Trinity Rep.
