Ocean State Theatre Company, currently celebrating its Fifth Anniversary Season as the not-for-profit producing entity at the historic Theatre By The Sea, is thrilled to present the 2000 Olivier Award-winner for Best New Musical, Honk! Jr. Performed by Camp OSTC participants, HONK! JR. will be presented as part of Theatre By The Sea's 2012 Children's Festival on Friday, August 3, 2012.

This contemporary musical retelling of Hans Christian Andersen's THE UGLY DUCKLING, tells the story of Ugly, the odd, gawky looking duckling, who is ridiculed for his looks, when he is separated from his loving mother by a sly tomcat. While his mother searches for him, Ugly embarks on a journey to find his way back through the countryside, and not only discovers his true beauty, but also love and acceptance. This captivating family-friendly musical, features an eclectic score, which incorporates a variety of musical styles. Its message of tolerance speaks to audiences of all ages and nationalities.

Directed and choreographed by Tom Gleadow, Camp OSTC's director, with music direction by Esther Zabinski, this popular musical, which has been performed around the world in over 8000 productions, features the talents of this year's Camp OSTC participants, which includes Marissa Alfiero, (Keri Anne O'Donnell Scholarship recipient), Olivia Betancourt, Laura Buckley, Jakob Caldwell, TRoy Stone Cedarfield, Emma Collins, Hallie Comer, Emma Conticello, Thomas DeSurra, Katie Donlan, Macy Drude, Jessica Kelly, Holly Lahti, Alyce Laverty, Alexander LeBlanc, Victoria LeBlanc, Kayla Mercure, Alison Miccolis, Amanda Miccolis, Anna Milia, Aiden Saulnier, Shannon Saulnier, Sydney Saulnier, Carissa Sherman, and Claire Elizabeth Stover.

HONK! JR. will be presented on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 10:00 am and 12:00 noon. The theatre is located at 364 Cards Pond Road, Matunuck, RI. Single tickets are $10.00 each with packages of three shows or more for $8.00 per ticket. Discount rates are available for groups of 20 or more by calling (401) 782-3800 x18.
