Spring is in the air, which means it must be time for the box office to re-open at Theatre By The Sea! Beginning on Monday, May 9 at 10:00 am, patrons may purchase tickets to any or all of the following Tony® Award-winning productions scheduled* for the 2011 Summer Season:

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee: Let the spelling begin! This funny, touching and interactive Tony Award-winner focuses on six adolescent overachievers who are vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. Not only do they compete against each other, they also compete against members of the audience. Overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escaped childhood themselves, this quirky, yet charming cast of outsiders, for whom a spelling bee might be the only place they can fit in, learns that winning isn't everything and losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee contains adult language and mature content.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will be presented from June 1 - 19.

Man of La Mancha: This musical masterpiece, which brought us the enormously popular hit "The Impossible Dream," is a musical within a play in which Miguel de Cervantes has been imprisoned by the Spanish Inquisition. Seeking to save his uncompleted novel from confiscation, he dramatically pleads his case by reenacting the story of Don Quixote de La Mancha: the passionate and poignant tale of a noble knight who lives in a world of madness and cannot believe that chivalry has died. To fulfill his mission, he must convince his loving niece, her doctor fiancé, the local priest, and the lovely Dulcinea, that his holy quest is a mission of salvation to find compassion - not for himself, but for everyone.

Man of La Mancha will be presented from June 22 - July 16.

Hairspray: Welcome to 1960s Baltimore, where Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, has a big desire to dance on the popular local TV dance program, "The Corny Collins Show." When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star, but she must use her newfound power to vanquish the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin and integrate a TV network - all without dentin' her 'do! Winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, this big fat Broadway sensation is filled with show-stopping tunes including "You Can't Stop the Beat," "Without Love" and "Good Morning Baltimore."

Hairspray will be presented from July 20 - August 13.

The Drowsy Chaperone: Get ready to be transported to a magical, wonderful world! The hilarious show-within-a-show begins when a die-hard musical fan decides to play his favorite cast album, a 1928 smash hit called The Drowsy Chaperone and the show magically bursts to life right in his apartment! Audiences are instantly immersed in the uproarious wedding day with a Broadway bride, a celebrity groom - and of course a "drowsy" chaperone. Complete with thrills and surprises that take both the cast and the audience soaring into the rafters, this five time Tony Award-winner is a toe-tapping trip back to the golden age of musicals.

The Drowsy Chaperone will be presented August 17 - September 4.

Previews for all productions are scheduled for Wednesday at 8:00 pm and Thursday at 2:00 and 8:00 pm. Opening weekend performances will be held on Friday at 8:00 pm, Saturday at 4:30 and 8:30 pm and Sunday at 3:00 and 8:00 pm. All other performances will be held Tuesday through Friday evenings at 8:00 pm, Thursdays at 2:00 pm, Saturdays at 4:30 and 8:30 pm and Sundays at 5:00 pm.
