THE MOUSETRAP and THE MURDER ROOM to Play in Rep at 2nd Story Theatre, Begin. Today
2nd Story Theatre's summer of murder, mystery, and mayhem continues with productions of Agatha Christie's legendary whodunit, The Mousetrap, performed in rep with Jack Sharkey's killer comedy, The Murder Room, opening tonight, July 5, and running through September 1, 2013.
In The Mousetrap, Dame Agatha Christine strands eight strangers - one of whom is a murderer - in an isolated, snowbound guesthouse. Who is the killer: the fop? The spinster? The foreigner? The battleaxe? All are suspect until the final, shocking denouement. The longest running play of all time, The Mousetrap is a mystery that may never die.
If Monty Python asked Agatha Christie to commission Noel Coward to write a vehicle for Abbot and Costello, you'd have The Murder Room. Jack Sharkey's pitch-perfect spoof of crime thrillers is a killer farce that takes dead-aim at the classic whodunit.
The Mousetrap Previews are Friday July 5 and Saturday July 6 at 8PM and Sunday July 7 at 7PM. The Murder Room Previews are Friday July 12 and Saturday July 13 at 8PM and Sunday July 14 at 7PM. Preview tickets are $20.
Regular performances are July 18 - September 1. Summer performances are Sundays and Thursdays at 7:00pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm. There will be a 3:00PM Matinee of The Mousetrap on Sunday, July 28, and a 3:00 PM Matinee of The Murder Room on Sunday, August 4. There are no evening performances on July 28 or August 4. Tickets are $25. Under 21 Tickets are $20.
