This February, travel back to the 1960’s with The Courthouse Center for the Arts as they kick off our 2009 Main Stage season with The Graduate.
Benjamin Braddock is a recent college graduate with no direction. His parents throw him a party for his graduation which leads to an affair with his father’s business partner’s wife, Mrs. Robinson. Months later at his parents’ insistence he takes out Elaine, the Robinson’s daughter, and finds himself falling in love with her. This leads to a confession and Elaine reacts by erasing Benjamin from her life and eventually gets engaged another man. Benjamin struggles to be accepted by her, against all the odds and wishes of her parents. He ultimately crashes her wedding and convinces her to run away and spend the rest of her life with him.The Graduate is a stage adaption by Terry Johnson, based on the hit movie screenplay by Calder Willingham and Buck Henry and the book by Charles Webb.Videos
