PPAC Receives Tony Award at 2014-15 Season Announcement Event

Producer of KINKY BOOTS, Hal Luftig, presented the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) with the Tony Award for 2013 Best Musical during PPAC's 2014/2015 season announcement today. PPAC President J.L. "Lynn" Singleton accepted the award on behalf of the Theatre.

PPAC is a member of the Independent Presenters Network (IPN), which is a producer of
KINKY BOOTS.

Mr. Luftig said, "I am delighted to present this Tony Award for Best Musical to PPAC, one of my producing partners of KINKY BOOTS. This is the highest recognition of the theatrical world. PPAC is a prestigious, world-renowned theatre, and I am thrilled that KINKY BOOTS will be here in June 2015!"

Mr. Singleton said, "I am glad I stuck around long enough to receive this award! All kidding aside, I am pleased that as a member of IPN, we could bring KINKY BOOTS to fruition. It is a great honor to receive this award, and we thank you for this recognition, and thank you, Hal, for taking the time to present the Tony to PPAC in person."

KINKY BOOTS is a part of the 2014/2015 Taco/The White Family Foundation Broadway Series, and will play at PPAC June 9 - 14, 2015.

KINKY BOOTS is the exhilarating Broadway musical that will lift your spirits to new high-heeled heights! Winner of six Tony Awards including BEST MUSICAL, this inspirational story follows a struggling shoe factory owner who works to turn his business around with help from Lola, a fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos. Inspired by a true story, KINKY BOOTS features a joyous, Tony-winning score by CYNDI LAUPER, direction and Tony-winning choreography by JERRY MITCHELL and a hilarious, uplifting book by four-time Tony winner HARVEY FIERSTEIN.
