All the hilarious mayhem you expect in a fast-paced farce, but it's all made up on the spot! The Contemporary Theater Company is bringing back their popular show Slamming Doors: An Improvised Farce for a second year.

Slamming Doors is a full-length improvised farce where actors make up an entirely new play every night. Last year the show was so successful that extra performances had to be added. The Newport Mercury named it 2016's "Most Innovative Production" in Rhode Island and called it "outrageously delicious."

For this production of Slamming Doors, the setting will be the 1920s. The cast features Christopher Simpson, Witt Tarantino, Maggie Papa, Tiffany Fenton, Owen Gilmartin, and Emily Rodriguez.

"The 1920s is such an iconic time in American history," says Communications Director Maggie Cady. "For our show, everything's a scandal, and everyone's got something they're hiding!"

From speakeasys to race tracks, the booze, money, and wild inhibitions will be flying with actors in sleek flapper dresses and suits to add some flair.

Scores of audiences enjoyed Slamming Doors last summer and this winter's Whodunit: An Improvised Murder Mystery. This fall the Contemporary Theater Company will perform their first full-length improvised musical.

Unlike most shows where the actors learn their lines and blocking, the cast will go into each show with no idea what the story will be about. The Newport Mercury called it "pure comedy and pure joy."

"It's remarkable how different every night is," says Cady. "You never know what to expect, even if you see it multiple times."

Whether you want a night full of laughs or to soak up the 1920s spirit, Slamming Doors is sure to deliver!

Tickets for performances and more information about the company are available online at www.contemporarytheatercompany.com or by calling 401-218-0282.

Performances: Aug 18-19, 24-26, 31, Sept 1-2 at 7 pm
