Neil Diamond musical 'A Beautiful Noise' powered by sequins, spectacle & 'Sweet Caroline' in Houston
"A Beautiful Noise" isn't a perfect musical, but it is a pretty fantastic concert experience. Despite the structural unevenness, the show succeeds where it matters most — delivering the exuberant spectacle of a Neil Diamond concert. By the time the company launches into a final, soaring rendition of "Sweet Caroline," you'll be out of your seat and singing along.
Review: 'The Wiz' flies into Houston with Beyoncé-level choreography & gravity-defying voices
The most wonderful thing about this 'Wiz' is the cyclone of vocal energy that lifts it off the ground. Almost every song builds to a climactic power note. Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow and Lion harmonize as if they've been singing together for years. The show's trio of witches each get moments to shine. It's in these voices that the show's true magic lies.
