Review: CLUE, Ensemble Arts Philly - North American Tour

From: West End Best Friend  |  Date: 1/28/2026

The cast lean into the iconic characters with confidence, strong physical comedy, and clear character choices that make it easy to follow the fast-moving action. The true standout of the evening, however, is Adam Brett as Wadsworth, the butler. He does a stellar job revising the role and shaping it into something uniquely his own, which is no small feat when the character is so famously associated with Tim Curry. Rather than leaning into imitation, Adam brings his own rhythm, physicality, and comedic timing, creating a fresh interpretation that confidently stands on its own. His performance anchors the entire production, driving the story forward with precision and infectious energy while juggling rapid dialogue, complex movement, and non-stop comic beats.

Review: KIMBERLY AKIMBO, Ensemble Arts Philly - US tour

From: West End Best Friend  |  Date: 10/29/2025

Of course, the heart of the show is its performances. Ann Morrison’s portrayal of Kimberly is nothing short of breathtaking, as she embodies both the fragility of a teenager and the wisdom of someone who’s lived a full lifetime. The supporting cast bring an infectious energy to the stage, each character quirky in their own perfectly human way.

Review: SOME LIKE IT HOT, Ensemble Arts Philadelphia - US National Tour

From: West End Best Friend  |  Date: 5/28/2025

Some Like it Hot the Musical boldly branches out from the original movie, staring bombshell Marilyn Monroe. It’s a tough act to follow, yet it charts its own course with purpose and delivers a standalone experience that's just as hilarious.

Review: MAMMA MIA!, Ensemble Arts Philly - North American Tour

From: West End Best Friend  |  Date: 8/14/2024

Besties, this is one of the most entertaining shows that we have seen in a long time. There are over ABBA 20 songs sprinkled through two acts. The spectacular choreography by Anthony Van Laast brings hilarious dance moves with wet suits, fluid movements in the ballads and risqué movements in songs such as ‘Does Your Mother Know?’ and ‘Lay All Your Love On Me’. It makes for a frolicking good time!

Review: FUNNY GIRL, Ensemble Arts Philly - North American tour

From: West End Best Friend  |  Date: 7/24/2024

Katerina McCrimmon has both an incredible voice and range. She plays everything from vaudeville to elegant lady with ease and has a perfect grasp of comedic timing. The rest of the cast also do an incredible job, not just as support to her but of telling their own stories. Melissa Manchester as Mrs. Brice is the Jewish mother that we all wish would make us a bowl of steaming hot matzah ball soup. Izaiah Montaque Harris is a delight and his tap dancing was mesmerising and show stopping. Stephen Mark Lukas as Nick Arnstein is both charming and contemptable, showing the humanity in being a crook and makes the audience fall in love. Every single supporting cast member does a great job.

Review: GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY, North American Tour

From: West End Best Friend  |  Date: 3/6/2024

Girl From The North Country features a brilliant cast that truly bring their own unique voices to many well-known Bob Dylan classics. The story takes place in the boarding house owned by Nick Laine (played by John Schiappa) who is deeply troubled but trying his best to take care of those he loves. His wife (Elizabeth Laine) is played by Jennifer Blood who has a fantastic voice but has a take on dementia that unfortunately came across as harsh and somewhat cartoonish. The cast that stood out the most are Sharaé Moultrie (who plays a gentle yet firm Marianne Laine), Matt Manuel (who played ex-convict Joe Scott with gentleness and earnest) and David Benoit (Mr. Burke) with Jill Van Velzer (Mrs. Burke) who in addition to acting and singing, also played the drums. In fact, many of the musicans were integrated into the cast which is always fun to watch as they become part of the scenery.

Review: MRS DOUBTFIRE, Ensemble Arts Philadelphia - US national tour

From: West End Best Friend  |  Date: 2/14/2024

Mrs Doubtfire has a sensational, diverse cast, led by Rob McClure as Daniel Hillard - who was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical in the role on Broadway - and his real life wife (Maggie Lakis) as Miranda Hillard, with the characters singing and dancing in amazing numbers.

Review: BEETLEJUICE: THE MUSICAL, Kimmel Cultural Campus - US National Tour

From: West End Best Friend  |  Date: 6/7/2023

Beetlejuice has an incredible cast and many stand out numbers. Justin Collette plays a disgusting yet delightful Beetlejuice. His command of the macabre ensemble is pure fun to watch. Isabella Ensler is enchanting and despondent as Lydia, modernising her with a bit more edge and a little less gloom than Wynona Rider. Ensler plays Lydia with a bit more of an emotional arc than in the movie and she exudes charm especially in the song, ‘Creepy Old Guy’. Delia is played by Kate Marilley who channels her inner Catherine O’Hara so well but she also brings her own kookiness to the role that would otherwise be dark and camp. The clear audience favourite is Danielle Marie Gonzalez as Miss Argentina, who delights as she frolics around hell bossing everyone around. Britney Coleman as Barbara, Will Burton as Adam, Jesse Sharp as Charles, Abe Goldfarb as Orlo and Jackera Davis as the girl scout also give notable performances. The ensemble is great, although the costumes are such that it is hard to distinguish who is who. A round of applause must be given for Kris Roberts, Brian Vaughn, Michael Biren, Ryan Breslin, Juliane Godfrey, Morgan Harrison, Matthew Michael Janisse, Kenway Hon Wai L. Kua, Sean McManus, Lee N Price, Nevada Riley, Trevor Michael Schmidt, Lexie Dorsett Sharp and Corben Williams.
