‘Mamma Mia!’ Knows How It Goes (Again)
The current touring production, now running at the Ahmanson Theatre until July 19, makes good on its promise to entertain. A classic jukebox musical, Mamma Mia! winds a somewhat haphazard plot around a catalog of greatest hits from the Swedish powerhouse pop quartet, ABBA. The musical is most effective when it plays to its strengths: timeless songs, carefree tomfoolery and a straightforward celebration of the love that binds friends and family.
