Photo Flash: Take a Peek at the Costumes for PlayMakers' TWELFTH NIGHT

PlayMakers Repertory Company proudly presents Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" at the Paul Green Theatre, from March 1 through 19, 2017. The Slim Aarons flavor of the production design can be seen in newly released promotional photos below.

Jerry Ruiz's conception of "Twelfth Night" will transport audiences to a mid-20th century Illyria where jet-setting socialites encounter mistaken identities and gender masquerades, ensuring that no one really knows who they are, or what they want. A shipwrecked Viola disguises herself as Cesario, a page in the service of Duke Orsino. Viola loves Orsino, but Orsino loves Lady Olivia, who in turn falls for "Cesario" when "he" is sent by the Duke to court her. ). Meanwhile, Olivia's hard-partying uncle Sir Toby Belch and his partners-in-crime play a cruel prank on Olivia's power-hungry steward, Malvolio.

"For the setting of our production, we gravitated towards a mid-20th century Mediterranean feel," said director Jerry Ruiz. "Our costume designer, Anne Kennedy, drew heavily on the lifestyle photography of Slim Aarons as inspiration for some these glamorous and evocative costumes, which bring to mind the late '50s and early '60s European fashion, including figures like Grace Kelly and David Niven."

"Twelfth Night" takes the stage at the Paul Green Theatre in the Center for Dramatic Art on Country Club Road. Show times will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, 2 p.m. Sundays, plus 2 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 11. Previews: Mar. 1-2. Opening Night & Press Night: Friday, Mar. 3.
