MEASURE FOR MEASURE Kicks Off The New Year At RLT

Raleigh Little Theatre presents "Measure for Measure".

When a young novice nun is compromised by a corrupt official, who offers to save her brother from execution in return for sex, she has no idea where to turn for help. When she threatens to expose him, he tells her that no one would believe her. Her decision ignites an exploration of agency, abuse of power, and the intersection of virtue and sin in one of Shakespeare's great plays.

"In this production, the audience witnesses that phenomenon, even when the adults on stage fail to notice. The children observe their elders stumbling through their darkest moments. If the adults can't change their destructive behavior, must the children repeat that cycle? Is there any way out?" says Rebecca Blum, the director of the play.

Following the Sunday, January 13th, 1:00P performance Patrick Torres, RLT's Artistic Director, will be joined by Catherine Lawson and Rebecca Blum to talk about the concept of the show. Catherine is an attorney with the Raleigh office of Parker Poe. In 2017 she started the #MeAt14 hashtag to advocate against the sexual exploitation of minors. Rebecca Blum will also talk about her concept for the show and its impact on young women.

This production of "Measure for Measure" runs from January 11th through January 27th at the Raleigh Little Theatre, 301 Pogue Street, Raleigh. Tickets can be purchased by calling the box office at 919-821-3111, Monday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m., or by visiting the theatre's website at www.raleighlittletheatre.org.

Opening weekend press tickets are available and don't hesitate to contact if you're interested in an interview & more information about the production.
