LES MISÉRABLES was written in 1862 by French author Victor Hugo and is widely considered one of the greatest novels of the 19th century. It follows the lives and interactions of several French characters over a twenty-year period in the early 19th century, starting in 1815. French composer Claude-Michel Schönberg composed the musical adaptation, commonly referred to as LES MIS or LES MIZ, in 1980 with a libretto by Alain Boubill and lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer.

LES MISÉRABLES opened on Broadway in 1987 and was nominated for twelve Tony Awards, winning eight, including Best Musical and Best Original Score. With a score featuring songs like "I Dreamed A Dream" "On My Own" "Bring Him Home" "A Little Fall of Rain" "Master of the House" and "Do You Hear The People Sing?" this show continues to be one of the most well known and performed musicals world wide.
