Honest Pint Theatre Co. to Present Regional Debut of THE MYSTERY OF LOVE & SEX

Honest Pint Theatre Co. will present the regional premiere of THE MYSTERY OF LOVE AND SEX by Bathsheba Doran.

Directed by Dana Marks, the cast includes John Allore, Chloe Apple, Chris Helton, and Susannah Hough.

Deep in the American South, Charlotte and Jonny have been best friends since they were nine years old. She's Jewish, he's Christian; he's black, she's white. Their differences intensify their connection until sexual desire complicates everything in surprising, compulsive ways. This is an unexpected love story about where souls meet and the consequences of growing up. In this tender and funny exploration of the lives of two couples from two generations, Ms. Doran also probes such fertile mysteries as the fluidity of identity, our ability to keep secrets from both our family and even ourselves, and the difficulty - and the rewards - of forgiveness.

Performances play October 27 & 28 at 8:00 pm, October 29 at 2:00 pm, November 3 & 4 at 8:00 pm, November 5 at 2:00 pm, November 10 & 11 at 8:00 pm, and November 12 at 2:00 pm at NRACT (7713-51 Lead Mine Road, Raleigh, NC 27615). Tickets $20 general/$15 under 25 years old or over 65 years old at www.nract.org/shows/#/tickets.

Honest Pint Theatre Company is a small professional theatre company located in Raleigh, NC. Their inaugural offering was a critically acclaimed production of A STEADY RAIN by Keith Huff. They followed that production with David Stevens' timely and poignant father/son play THE SUM OF US. Honest Pint's production of Sharr White's ANNAPURNA won awards for Set Design, Acting, and Best Drama at the Inaugural Triangle Theatre awards. Most recently, Honest Pint produced critically acclaimed productions of William Shakespeare's HAMLET (UNCUT) and the regional premiere of THE NIGHT ALIVE by Conor McPherson, which was hailed as the season's most satisfying production by critics. This September, look for their production of KING LEAR. For more information, visit www.honestpinttheatre.org.

On May 18th, the 2023 Triangle Rising Star Awards took place through the Durham Performing Arts Center. This regional competition brings together high school musical theater students from Central and Eastern North Carolina to perform and compete for the chance to represent the Triangle in The National High School Musical Theater (otherwise known as The Jimmy) Awards in New York City on June 26th. The national competition celebrates outstanding student performances in high school musical productions from all over the United States. Shortly after the Triangle Rising Star Awards, I had the great pleasure of interviewing both of this year's winners, Noah Colvin of Enloe High School and Lilly Pritchard of Heritage High School.
