Interview: Lea Michele Reflects on Darren Criss, LM/DC Tour, and Importance of Family in Advance of DPAC Concert

This week, Lea Michele hits the road for the second leg of her LM/DC tour with "Glee" co-star Darren Criss. The duo is scheduled to play the Durham Performing Arts Center on June 30th, and Michele says audiences can expect a fantastic show full of surprises.

"Obviously we sing some of our most popular songs from 'Glee' as well as songs that we just love from outside of the show, from Broadway, or maybe from some of our personal records that we've released, but we also tell a lot of stories, and I think that's what fans have loved the most," Michele says.

"Darren and I are quite different in many ways, but we're also very similar, and there's just something about when you put the two of us together that we really have such a spark," she adds.

Michele says she's enjoyed sharing the stage with Criss and it's his spontaneity that makes each performance different from one city to the next.

"When I was by myself on tour, I really kind of stuck to the same songs every night and the same concert, but when you have someone else that you can play off of you really kind of can be more spontaneous and make each show more unique," she says.

"He is one of the most lively, energetic performers I've ever seen. He plays tons of instruments. He loves telling stories. He's a fantastic singer. And he's really brought out more of the spontaneous side to me."

Once the second leg of the tour is over, Michele, who is newly engaged to AYR clothing president Zandy Reich, is looking forward to taking the rest of the summer off but says she is also hoping to grow the tour with Criss overseas.

"As far as the rest of summer is concerned, I am going to relax with my family and that is what I am the most excited about, just to get to really enjoy the summer with my family and with my fiancé, and you know, take a minute to reflect and look at everything."

"I mean I've done a lot this year so far, and I think what's fully kept me going is knowing how important those times are to sort of recharge with your family," she adds.
