What happens when a love story is told entirely without words?

Images of Love is a visually imaginative black light theatre production combining live performers, modern dance, shadow theatre, UV illusion, film projection, music, humour and direct interaction with the audience.

The story follows the many forms of love—from the first meeting of two people and the excitement of romance to passion, dreams, temptation, fear and the routines that can gradually weaken a relationship. Film images transform into live theatrical scenes, performers disappear into darkness, objects appear to move by themselves and the audience is repeatedly challenged to decide what is real and what is an illusion.

The production premiered in Prague on October 11, 2024. In February 2025, Images of Love represented Czech theatre at the international Bharat Rang Mahotsav festival in India. HILT performed the production at the Kamani Auditorium in New Delhi and at the Rajasthan International Centre, receiving two festival awards.

The show is now performed at HILT Black Light Theatre Prague, the company’s permanent home in the historic centre of Prague. The theatre is located in an authentic underground space dating from the 15th century at etzová 7 in Prague’s Old Town.

Unlike the large international theatres and festival stages visited by HILT, the Prague venue contains only 50 seats. The performers are therefore only a few metres away from the audience, creating an unusually close, interactive and personal theatrical experience.

Images of Love is written, directed and choreographed by Theodor Hoidekr, founder and artistic director of HILT Black Light Theatre Prague. The production includes original music by Theodor Hoidekr and Indian composer Mayank Singh, alongside licensed international music.

The performance is completely non-verbal and can be understood by audiences regardless of language or nationality.
