REVOLUTIONS: FIVE YEARS OF COLLABORATION to Mark Revolve Dance Project's Anniversary
The show will be held at The Strand in Providence, featuring artists from Dance Theater of Harlem and Oregon Ballet Theater.
Revolve Dance Project celebrates its fifth anniversary this year in presenting two shows, Sunday, June 28 at 2 and 6pm, The Strand, 70 Washington Street, Providence. The company has emerged as one of the region's newest and most exciting artistic collaborations-a vibrant fusion of dance, music, and creative partnership. This show will celebrate its accomplishments as well as its singular contribution to Rhode Island's cultural landscape.
Tickets are available at Revolve Dance Project at The Strand.
Founded by visionary dancer Kirsten Evans and her husband and artistic partner, Cameron McIntosh, RDP brings together extraordinary talent from across the country to create bold, original performance works. Evans, a celebrated former dancer with Festival Ballet, and McIntosh, an acclaimed jazz drummer whose performances span New England, New York City, Broadway, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and premier music venues throughout the city, form the dynamic artistic force behind the company.
Each late spring, RDP draws together rising and established choreographers, composers, dancers, and musicians from around the nation for an intensive creative residency. There, they develop entirely new works, transforming the studio into a hub of artistic innovation and forging not only a performance company, but a living laboratory for the next generation of interdisciplinary art.
Guest artists this year include:
Charlotte Nash and John-Paul Simoens (Oregon Ballet Theater)
Composer Katie Jenkins and Choreographer Kurt Douglas
Composer Luther S. Allison and Choreographer Danielle Diniz
Composer Jim Oblon and Choreographer Emily Adams
Dance Theater of Harlem's Alexandra Rene Jones and Ballet RI's Audrey Lukacz
Dancers returning to the project include Kailee Hrbae, Joe Lynch, and Aram Hengen
Musicians returning to the project include Katie Martucci, Cameron MacIntosh, Josh Knowles, and Luther S. Allison
Beyond the stage, Revolve has deepened its impact through Educational Community Programming, serving more than 100 students of all ages, experience levels, and abilities through low-cost arts masterclasses and complimentary performance tickets-extending the company's spirit of access, education, and artistic discovery far beyond the theater.
