The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announces the line-up for its January Gallery Crawl taking place Friday, January 23, 2015, from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., in downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District. The Gallery Crawl is a free and festive showcase that features a wide variety of thought-provoking art exhibitions, live bands, DJs, dance, comedy and more. The showcase of arts and entertainment is on display for art connoisseurs of all ages.

"There are unique things taking place during this first gallery crawl of the year," shared Janis Burley Wilson, Vice President of Education and Community Engagement. "In addition to the CircusAfterDark event, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is launching a new series, The Soul Sessions, which will continue to build upon the high level of artistry and increased engagement of diverse artists that thousands of guests have grown to anticipate at these quarterly events."

The Soul Session, during the January Gallery Crawl, will take place at the Trust Arts Education Center at 8:30 p.m., featuring the live sounds of funk, soul and R&B artist Aaron "AB" Abernathy and his band Nat Turner. Abernathy and his band have recently toured with hip-hop singer Slum Village and collaborated with Eric Roberson and The Foreign Exchange. DJ Nate Da Phat Barber will provide music beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Introduced in January 2014, CrawlAfterDark highlights the transformation of the Cultural District, promoting numerous options for late night entertainment which include comedy, music, theater, clubs, dining, and more. One highlight during this winter gallery crawl will include a special ticketed presentation of "CircusAfterDark," where gallery crawl attendees can enjoy music, sideshow acts, and free refreshments while mingling with the cast of PIPPIN, the 2013 Tony Award-winning musical being presented as part of the 2014-15 PNC Broadway Across America series. PIPPIN opens on Tuesday, January 20 at the Benedum Center and runs through Sunday, January 25.

Gallery Crawl events are free and open to the public. For more information and a map of the Gallery Crawl events, visit TrustArts.org/Crawl or call 412-456-6666.
