With the whole world seemingly falling down around them in the midst of faceless war and destruction, a group of women have taken shelter in a decaying, burned-out library. With nothing else to do to distract them in their final hours, they stumble upon and read aloud from a book that has survived the onslaught. In that text these refugees find fantasy and fatalism, comfort and confrontation, solace and sorrow, all on their path to accepting their own dire circumstances.

A Morality Play dating back to 15th Century England, Everyman is the story of one man's journey in to death and the hereafter, learning along the way what we can and cannot take with us. The name of the author has long since been lost to history, but the play itself has lasted through the ages to become the definitive example of Medieval Religious Theatre.

Everyman is the third production in Throughline Theatre's fifth season, following the world premier of A New Death and an incredibly successful production of Angels in America that The Pittsburgh Look called "clever and awakening." Throughline Theatre's fifth season examines the expectations we have of our Divinities and Deities, and what those expectations reveal about our own sense of Mortality.

Throughline Theatre Company's four-show season focuses on the relationship between past, present, and future by presenting plays from varied time periods and arranging them to highlight their thematic and stylistic similarities.

Everyman opens tonight, September 12, at 8pm and runs until Saturday, September 20. The opening night performance will be followed by a reception where food and drinks will be provided and audience members can meet the cast. Thursday and Friday performances start at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm. Tickets are $15 or $12 for students and seniors. Tickets for the Opening Night Reception are an additional $10. Tickets are available at the door or in advance online at throughline.showclix.com.
