Point Park Conservatory Adds 4/8 Performance To ROCKY HORROR SHOW

By:

Due to popular demand, Point Park University's Conservatory Theatre Company is adding a performance on Wednesday, April 8 at 8 p.m. to The Rocky Horror Show run at the Pittsburgh Playhouse; patrons who come "dressed up" to this performance will receive $5 off the regular ticket price of $18. Richard O'Brien's cult classic musical is on stage through April 11. The production is directed by Scott Wise with musical direction by Camille Rolla and choreography by Jeremy Czarniak.

The Rocky Horror Show is the risqué tale of two straight-laced lovebirds who run into car trouble on a rainy night and seek refuge in the eerie mansion up the street. To Brad and Janet's surprise and dismay, their host is a "transsexual transvestite from Transylvania" by the name of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. With other unique characters such as the strange servants Magenta and Riff Raff, in addition to the unforgettable Rocky Horror himself, The Rocky Horror Show has been a theatre-goers favorite since it premiered in London in 1973.

The Rocky Horror Show is also the inspiration for The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which premiered in September of 1975. The movie, which inspired a cult-like following that still exists today, had a star-studded cast of Tim Curry as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Susan Sarandon as Janet Weiss and Barry Bostwick as Brad Majors.

The Rocky Horror Show runs through Saturday, April 11, 2009. Performances will be held Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m., and on Wednesday, April 8 at 8 p.m. Tickets range in price from $18 to $20 and can be purchased by calling the Pittsburgh Playhouse box office at 412-621-4445 or online at www.pittsburghplayhouse.com. Patrons can text ROCKY to SMASH (76274) for a special offer.
