Playhouse Jr. to Present A 1940S RADIO CHRISTMAS CAROL at Pittsburgh Playhouse, 12/4-13

By:

Playhouse Jr., Point Park University's family theatre company, continues its 2015-2016 season with a holiday production of A 1940S RADIO CHRISTMAS CAROL.

Directed by Nancy Bach, A 1940S RADIO CHRISTMAS CAROL runs Dec. 4-13 in the Rockwell Theatre at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, 222 Craft Ave. Performances will be at 8 p.m., Thursdays through Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Adult tickets are $10, children tickets are $5 and can be purchased by calling the Pittsburgh Playhouse box office at 412-392-8000 or visiting www.pittsburghplayhouse.com.

"We've been having a great time staging this play. It's funny and heartwarming, and the cast is so charming and inventive. There's something for everyone in the show -- music, comic chaos, nostalgia, love, and a very unusual take on Dickens' A Christmas Carol," said Bach. "I think families will enjoy seeing this bygone era brought so energetically to life."

Walton Jones' A 1940S RADIO CHRISTMAS CAROL takes place on Christmas Eve, 1943, in a small, broken-down studio in Newark, New Jersey. The WOV radio players are presenting their take on Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol,' while everything that could go wrong does go wrong. The actors contend with plumbing issues, a blackout and each other's egos in this laugh-out-loud nostalgic holiday treat.

The Playhouse Jr. production features scenic design by Paula Dworek, costumes by Michael Montgomery, lighting by Calvin Anderson, sound by Steve Shapiro and choreography by Brittany Pent. Deana Muro is musical director, Kim Martin is director of production, and Ryan Looke is stage manager.

Director, Nancy Bach, is an actor and director with close ties to Point Park as an adjunct professor at the Conservatory of Performing Arts. Over the past decade, Bach has appeared in numerous productions with The REP and various other local theatre companies. She has experience in film, television and even radio, as well. The production of 'A 1940S RADIO CHRISTMAS CAROL is Bach's second show as director for Playhouse Jr.
