Historic Bethlehem and the Hunt for History Club Invite Kids To Celebrate The Holidays

By:

We're celebrating the holiday season with crafts, stories, and history at the final two Hunt for History events of the year! The programs, which focus on Thanksgiving and Christmas
traditions, offer children an opportunity to learn about their history within a community of other local families.

In November, club members will explore Bethlehem's American Indian history and customs during
"Wampum & Wigwams." After learning about the Nain-Schober House - the only building in the entire Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor to be built and lived in by native peoples - kids can craft wampum beads with a crow pendant to wear just like the Lenape! As an added value, Bethlehem Public Library Storyteller Regina Kochmaruk will share the tale of The Rainbow Crow at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30pm.

The first Saturday in December promises holiday cheer with a "Deck the Halls" club event. Children will learn the history behind local holiday decorations, while creating beautiful gifts out of fresh green and ribbons for their loved ones. During the crafting, parents and guardians can take a special guided tour of the Moravian Museum of Bethlehem, the oldest building in the city and a National Historic Landmark.

Following the program, we invite everyone to enjoy holiday refreshments together!

Join the Hunt for History club on November 5 and December 3 from 12pm to 4pm at the Moravian
Museum of Bethlehem at 66 W. Church Street. All Hunt for History club events are free for children with paid adult museum admission.

Reservations are encouraged. Please call 1-800-360-TOUR or stop into the Historic Bethlehem Visitor Center at 505 Main Street. For more information, visit www.HistoricBethlehem.org.

Historic Bethlehem Partnership created the Hunt for History club as a way to engage children with local history and their community. The program is made possible through the generous support of the Helen and Maurice Jones Fund.

Historic Bethlehem is a not-for-profit institution that brings to life three centuries of American history. Historic Bethlehem, an Affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, tells the story of a small town of great influence, home to some of our nation's earliest settlers, to America's first municipal water pumping system, and to one of the world's greatest industrial companies. For more information, please call the Visitor Center at 610-691-6055 or visit www.historicbethlehem.org.
