Act II Playhouse Presents LET'S PRETEND WE'RE MARRIED Limited Engagement 1/11-22

By:

Act II Playhouse presents a special two-week engagement of LET'S PRETEND WE'RE MARRIED, created and performed by Philadelphia comedy masters Tony Braithwaite and Jennifer Childs. Let's Pretend We're Married will run from Jan 11-22 at Act II Playhouse. For tickets and information, call 215-654-0200 or visit www.act2.org.

In a classic cabaret style, LET'S PRETEND WE'RE MARRIED will feature music and sketches from comedy's most famous couples: The Bickersons, Edith and Archie Bunker, Lucy and Desi, Sonny and Cher - and a special salute to Burns and Allen, whose material Braithwaite and Childs first began performing more than 10 years ago. The musical selection is just as varied, with classic cuts from Tom Lehrer, Stephen Sondheim, George and Ira Gershwin, and Irving Berlin.

"LET'S PRETEND WE'RE MARRIED is one of my favorite shows to do ... ever. Tony and I have such fun together - it never feels like work," Childs said. "The opportunity to do it at Act II, where Tony has such a rich history, is sublime."

LET'S PRETEND WE'RE MARRIED offers the ultimate in audience participation as married couples can renew their vows during a performance of the show. Couples have their choice of a Traditional Theme, Las Vegas Theme, or Hawaiian Theme-and there is even a pop-up Chuppa for Jewish Couples (or anyone else who would like to use it!). All married couples are welcome (including visitors from New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Iowa!). Tony Braithwaite, officially ordained through the Universal Life Church online ministry, will officiate and Jen Childs will be everyone's favorite flower-girl.

A delightful, musical comedy celebration of the world's greatest, and most complicated institution, LET'S PRETEND WE'RE MARRIED was a smash hit in 1812 Productions' 2008-2009 season. Braithwaite and Childs will be presenting the follow-up, a new cabaret called LET'S PRETEND WE'RE FAMOUS, back at 1812 Productions in March.

Tickets for LET'S PRETEND WE'RE MARRIED at Act II Playhouse are $27 for all Wednesday-Thursday performances and $33 for Friday-Sunday shows. Subscribers receive discounted tickets of $20 for any performance, and discounts are also available for students and groups of 10 or more.

Press opening for LET'S PRETEND WE'RE MARRIED is Friday, Jan. 13 at 8 p.m.

Tickets are available by calling the Act II Box Office at (215) 654-0200, in person at 56 E. Butler Ave. in Ambler, or online at www.act2.org. Box office hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
