As the Furries leave Pittsburgh, another group of fuzzy characters have arrived from NYC and taken up residence in Carnegie. They are the cast members of Avenue Q, music and lyrics by Robert Lopez & Jeff Marks ; book by Jeff Whitty, presented this month by STAGE 62.

This zany, adult-themed spoof on Sesame Street revolves around a young college graduate, Princeton, as he moves into an apartment on the only New York City street he can afford: Avenue Q. There, Princeton and his neighbors cope with the struggles of real life and lessons of real life, mostly learning that laughter and heart go a long way toward making everything easier. Trekkie M. Onster has taken it upon himself to spend a lot of time taking in the Pittsburgh sites. He was seen on the Southside, the Northshore and of course the "Strip District". Check out his Facebook page to see his antics. Avenue Q is rated R for adult language and content and H for hilarious!

The puppet and human members of this cast are under the direction of Stephen Santa. Santa makes a return to directing at STAGE 62 after a recent stint as a performer in the acclaimed production of "Dani Girl this spring. Santa does not shy away from a challenge having mounted productions of "The Full Monty and "The Producers" for 62 over the last two years. His talented casts, all experts at bringing a script and a song to life, have learned how to bring a puppet to life as well. This feat is not to be missed.

Plan to attend opening night, July 18th, for a Pre-show wine tasting courtesy of the Winery at Wilcox and a post-show "Pupparazzi" meet and greet with the puppets.
