Inspired by recent revelations in numbers on just how few female playwrights actually get produced, Little Black Dress INK strives to create more production opportunities for female playwrights while also strengthening the female playwright network. The Planting the Seed festival is the third installment of the Female Playwrights ONSTAGE Project, created by playwright and producer, Tiffany Antone.
Little Black Dress INK (LBDI), a female playwright producing organization, is bringing 11 exciting new plays by female playwrights to the First Congregational Church in Prescott on January 2 and 3. The plays are part of LBDI’s ONSTAGE Project, which featured readings of 28 new plays in 5 different cities during 2014. Over 60 artists worked together to bring readings of the short plays to Santa Barbara, CA; Ithaca, NY; Waco, TX; Sedona, AZ; and Los Angeles, CA – and now the winning plays are coming to Prescott!
The Planting the Seed Festival performs January 2 at 7:30, and January 3 at 2:30 and 7:30 at the First Congregational Church Theatre located at 216 E Gurley Street in Prescott. Tickets are $14 and can purchased at the door or online at www.LittleBlackDressINK.org. *A portion of this year’s festival proceeds to The Clearity Foundation, which works to improve treatment options for women with ovarian cancer.
Ages: Be advised: Some plays do contain mature subject matter and language.
