TheaterWorks Presents Holiday Classic A CHRISTMAS CAROL

In celebration of the holiday season, TheaterWorks' MasterWorks series reawakens our original production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, adapted by local playwright Richard Powers Hardt opens Friday, December 7, 2018 at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts.

Ebenezer Scrooge, the notorious Christmas grump, is faced with the ultimate decision, discover change or submit to a ghastly fate. Join us on a journey through time and experience this reimagining of the timeless story of redemption and hope.

A charming holiday classic, Scrooge's story has been told again and again through the generations, embodying the meaning of Christmas and imprinting the values of charity and love upon all who experience it. While this is what the story has become through time, the original intent was quite different. When initially writing the novel, Charles Dickens designed a ghostly tale, highlighting the dark side of the jolliest time of the year. TheaterWorks' take on this narrative will showcase the doleful selfishness of Scrooge in order to fully appreciate his inspiring progress and ultimate victory.

Incorporating everything that is TheaterWorks, this production features a cast of talented adults and children, as well as imaginative puppetry and incomparable technical wonders. We invite you to experience this enduring tale like never before. The cast will be let by director and playwright Richard Powers Hardt.
