Theater Works Opens Master Works Season with MAN OF LA MANCHA

By:
The classic musical, telling the story of the author Cervantes and his creation, Don Quixote, opens Theater Works' 30th Anniversary Master Works Season on Friday, October 9 with Man of La Mancha. This pillar of musical theater is based on Dale Wasserman's remarkable, poignant and moving story of the "mad" knight Don Quixote and his "Impossible Dream" of honor, justice and love. Music for the production was written by Mitch Leigh, lyrics by Joe Darion, and book by Dale Wasserman.

Valley theater veteran D. Scott Withers takes on the role of Director of the production. He returns to Theater Works after almost a decade away, previously directing Philadelphia Story and Meet Me in St Louis and also performing in Parade, Merrily We Roll Along and Drood, and is well known locally for his with many credits with the acclaimed Childsplay's ensemble.

Man of La Mancha also features the talents of Rusty Ferracane as the iconic Miguel de Cervantes/Don Quixote. Ferracane returns to Theater Works this season in a starring role after taking the lead as Ben in last season's ariZoni-nominated Follies. With nearly 4 decades of experience in the theater, Rusty also served as a director of the Theater Works holiday production of THE QUILTMAKER's GIFT last season.

Choreography created by Katrina Sanders. Man of La Mancha will be on stage at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts October 9 - 25, 2015, the first of Theater Works' Master Works season. Almost Maine, the story of a small Northern town where love is lost, found and confounded, opens in the McMillin Theater on October 30.

Single tickets for Man of La Mancha are now on sale. Regular price ticket $36; discounts for seniors, students, and groups.
