Theater Works at Peoria Center for the Performing Arts will offer a special benefit performance of BIG, the Musical to benefit the Yarnell Hill Recovery Group. This event will take place tonight, September 7, 2013 at 7:30 pm.

Theater Works and SRP, as well as other West Valley community arts and cultural groups are stepping forward to help raise financial aid to the Yarnell/Peeples Valley community. This special benefit evening will also include auction items, beverages and delectable food both pre-and post-performance.

All tickets sold for the performance will help the displaced homeowners and businesses of the Yarnell community. The devastated area was recently denied Federal disaster aid after the Yarnell Hill wildfire destroyed over 100 residences and took the lives of 19 firefighters.

BIG, the MUSICAL is based on the beloved movie that starred a young Tom Hanks. It tells the story of a boy who is granted his wish to be "big" by a fortune-telling machine, and turns into a 30-year-old man overnight. The production has a cast of 48 actors, colorful sets, songs and fun dance numbers, including the famous scene of dancing out "chopsticks" on an oversize piano.

Proceeds from the evening will go to the Yarnell Hill Recovery Group, the community organization that has been chartered to coordinate recovery efforts. Members of the Yarnell community will be special guests at the performance, which will offer some respite from the stresses of their situation as well as the financial aid generated by the evening.

Tickets for this special event may be obtained through the Theater Works Box Office at 623.815.7930, or online at www.theaterworks.org.

All donations to the Yarnell Hill Recovery Group are tax deductible. See the website www.YarnellHillRecoveryGroup.org to learn more or to make a contribution. Contact 623.972.0635 to learn about other opportunities for OUR arts community to help the Yarnell community during this special event.
