Stray Cat Theatre Presents Learn to be Latina, Opens 12/3

By: Oct. 28, 2010

Stray Cat Theatre presents Learn to be Latina, by Enrique Urueta and Directed by Ron May

We're experiencing ethnical difficulties.
Hanan is a promising young pop singer, and she has a record label dying to record her...well...until they find out she's Lebanese. Not to worry, they say: Hanan can still be a star-as long as she learns to be Latina! In this fiercely funny post-9/11 race farce/lesbian romantic comedy (with dance breaks), cultural identities and the music business are poked with some very, very sharp sticks. Critics call it "Screamingly funny!" and claim "Latina delivers a serious message about racial stereotyping in the pop music industry through zany, stylized theatrics." Think "Behind the Music" meets "Glitter" meets an uncensored episode of "South Park". Don't miss what is sure to be one of the most blistering, outrageous comedies to play the Valley this season...if not...ever.

*Please Note -- This play contains very strong adult content. Due to language, no one under the age of 17 will be admitted without an adult chaperone.
