Stage and Screen Star Lucie Arnaz Set for Arizona Musicfest 25th Anniversary Celebration

Star of TV, Broadway and film, and the daughter of Hollywood legends Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, Lucie Arnaz joins Arizona Musicfest for a celebration of its 25th Anniversary. Ms. Arnaz and her trio will perform a high-energy tribute to her parents and her Latin music roots.

The Arizona Musicfest 25th Anniversary Celebration will be held January 18 at 5:30 pm at the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM). Tickets are $225 for the concert and catered reception. (A portion of the ticket price is tax-deductible) Tickets can be ordered by calling 480-488-0806.

In honor of AZMF's long-standing commitment to young musicians, the Perfect 4th String Quartet will be featured as part of the evening. Comprised of Hannah Goldstick, (age: 13), Elena Boyd, (age: 15), Ethan Buell, (age: 15), and Robert Bui, (age: 15), this exciting young ensemble won 1st place at the 2015 Arizona Musicfest's Instrumental Competition (Division 4), and has also been featured in Arizona Musicfest's Young Musicians Concert Series at the MIM.

For the performance, the Perfect 4th String Quartet will be joined by Steve Hanusofski, clarinetist for the Arizona Musicfest Orchestra as well as Assistant Principal and Bass Clarinet for The Phoenix Symphony. Together they will perform the first movement from Mozart's Quintet in A Major, which was performed 25 years ago on the inaugural concert of Arizona Musicfest on January 15, 1992.

The Arizona Musicfest 25th Anniversary Celebration will also include a live paddle auction to raise funds for the organization's music education and youth performance programs as well as an exclusive auction item generously provided by Bulgari.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Lucie Arnaz has had an extremely diversified career spanning over 45 years in show business. She has starred on the Broadway stage in They're Playing Our Song (Theatre World, LA Drama Critics and Outer Critic's Circle Awards), Lost in Yonkers, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Grace and Glorie; in the London premiere of The Witches Of Eastwick; in national tours of Pippin (2015 Tony award), Seesaw, Whose Life Is It Anyway?, Social Security and My One And Only (Sarah Siddons Award); and in regional theatre productions of Wonderful Town, Cabaret, The Guardsman, Annie Get Your Gun, I Do! I Do!, Educating Rita, Vanities, and Mack And Mabel, to name just a few. She has appeared on television in The Lucie Arnaz Show, Sons And Daughters, The Black Dahlia, The Mating Season, and six seasons of Here's Lucy; on the big screen with Neil Diamond and Sir Laurence Oliver in The Jazz Singer (Golden Globe Nomination), Down To You, Second Thoughts, Billy Jack Goes To Washington, The Pack, Wild Seven and has lent her voice to the new animated fantasy about the NY Yankees, Henry And Me. She was Executive Producer of the I Love Lucy 50th Anniversary Special (Emmy nomination), and Lucy & Desi: A Home Movie (Emmy winner 1993). She recorded her first album for Concord Jazz, Just In Time, and her CD, "Latin Roots," is a celebration of just what the title says. Perfect 4th Quartet (P4Q) was formed in 2013 when members of Metropolitan Youth Symphony came together at a Phoenix area camp. They were invited to be one of Metropolitan Youth Symphony's Honors Quartets for the 2013-14 season and gave regular recital, corporate and charity performances. Recently, they were the 1st Place Winner in the 2015 Arizona Musicfest Young Musicians Instrumental Competition (Division 4). As the quartet bonded musically and socially, P4Q have become an independent group and now take part in various activities across the valley, performing a wide range of musical genres, from fiddling to pop to classical, including arrangements made by their own cellist, Robert Bui. P4Q's members are Hannah Goldstick, 13, Primavera Online School; Elena Boyd, 15, Chandler Preparatory Academy; Ethan Buell, 15, Homeschool; and Robert Bui, 15, Mountain View High School.

Steve Hanusofski is Associate Principal and Bass Clarinet for The Phoenix Symphony and he is also the second clarinetist for the Arizona Musicfest Orchestra. He began playing the clarinet in junior high, then added flute, bassoon and saxophone in high school. At 15, Steve also took up the piano. He received his bachelor's from Chicago's North Park University, his master's from Florida State University, and has done doctoral work at FSU and Arizona State University. His principal teachers include Clark Brody, Robert Marcellus, Fred Ormand and Frank Kowalsky. Prior to joining TPS in 1986, he performed with the Florida Philharmonic and the Miami Opera Orchestra. An active chamber musician, he has appeared often as soloist and a member of the Bel Canto Players. Steve is a faculty member of the Arizona Community School of the Arts and the Arizona School of the Arts.
