The Studio is very excited to be able to present two FREE stage readings of a brand new work by renowned playwright RICH ORLOFF, Chatting with the Tea Party. This play has not yet been produced, so come and be among the first to experience it. We are even more excited to let you know that Mr. Orloff will be at the readings, and we'll have talkbacks with the playwright following each reading!

One of the most popular unknown playwrights in the country, Orloff's plays have received over a thousand productions, numerous awards, and oodles of laughter. Author of over a dozen one-acts and 75 short comedies and dramas, Rich's short plays have had over 900 productions on six of the seven continents.

Chatting with the Tea Party is a documentary-style play about a New York liberal playwright who decides to travel around the country interviewing leaders of local Tea Party groups to get to know people whose political beliefs are diametrically opposed to his.

For a year the playwright attended Tea Party meetings and events in cities large and small in every region of the country. Chatting with the Tea Party shapes the highlights of over 63 hours of interviews plus notes from events the playwright attended to create a play that strives to go beyond sound bites and stereotypes to show the people behind the opinions. In a journey that's at times disturbing, humorous, moving, and always thought-provoking, the playwright discovers not only how and if he can affect the people he meets, but also how they may be influencing him. Everything the interviewees say in the play come directly from the interviews.

This is a rare opportunity to hear a new, unique work and to interact with the award-winning playwright who wrote it.

The readings will take place on FRIDAY, JUNE 27, and SATURDAY, JUNE 28, at 7:30 pm both evenings. Tickets are FREE, but SEATING IS LIMITED and reservations are highly recommended.

Reserve your seats now by calling 602-765-0120.
