Jesus Alvarez, Sabrina Dahlmann & More to Star in Brokenleg Collective's GUTTED, Begin. 5/8

The Brokenleg Collective has begun production on its next show, Gutted, written by Ryan Severt and other select members of The Brokenleg Collective. Gutted opens on May 8, 2014 in the ASU Media and Performing Arts Building on ASU Tempe campus.

Gutted casts the audience as members of a mid-revolutionary society in the underwater city of Atlantis. A sea monster with the power to destroy Atlantis has been captured and being fitted as a weapon for the military. However, there are rebels who see that the monster is being tortured, and should be released. Taking the role of aristocrats, waiters, scientists, or soldiers, the audience is split up and led through different intertwining storylines. Audiences will be able to see locations spread across different rooms in the Media and Performing Arts building, such as a military base, a rebel fort, a high- gala and even an Atlantian burlesque club, staffed by dancing sea monsters.

Gutted is being produced by ASU's School of Film Dance and Theatre. It is the second iteration of Sea Monsters, a performance devised by The Brokenleg Collective last year. It is being devised and created as a part of a Developing New Work class at ASU. In addition to performing, all of the actors are also writing, designing and creating this show from scratch.

Gutted opens Thursday May 8 at 7:30 pm in the ASU Performing and Media Arts Building on the ASU Tempe Campus. Gutted runs 2 shows a day until Saturday May 10. Tickets are available at the door and at the box office in the Galvin Playhouse. This is a walking show. Please wear comfortable shoes to allow for light indoor walking.

Chelsea Pace (director) will receive her MFA in Theatre Performance at ASU this May. Chelsea will be joining the faculty at North Dakota State University as Assistant Professor of Movement, beginning this fall. Currently, Chelsea is the artist behind Asking for It: The Consent Project at Modified Arts in Downtown Phoenix. Chelsea's recent performance credits including You n.0 at Emerge 2014, laundry.room at Wabash College and Asylum with Vessel Project. Chelsea is in pre-production for her next project, Refuge: Hidden Stories, a transit performance for the Association of Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) Conference in Scottsdale this July.

Ryan Severt (Author) has written numerous short scripts for the stage and screen, including Divide, which was recently premiered at ASU's Binary Theatre Company. In addition to having been involved in theatre for the part decade, Ryan is also a part-time carpenter.

Sarah Downey (Stage Manager) is a sophomore at Arizona State University majoring in Theatre with a concentration in Design and Production. Most recently Sarah was the stage manager for, Chelsea Pace's Asking For It: The Consent Project and Megan Weaver's The Seven Layers of Bastian Bachman. She has also been assistant stage manager for True at ASU and was technical director for ASU's Emperor Wolf.

Dr. Dan Puccio (Composer) is a Phoenix based composer/arranger, multi-instrumentalist and educator. A saxophonist comfortable in multiple genres, he has performed with such notable artists as the Temptations, the Four Tops, Chris Potter, Dave Holland, Jerry Lewis, and Bernard Purdie. His compositions and arrangements have been performed across the Unites States by various collegiate and high school ensembles including the University of Michigan Jazz Ensemble, Mesa Community College Concert Band, and the Newberry College Jazz Ensemble. Other compositions of note include a Jazz Mass (commissioned by the University of Michigan Lutheran Campus Ministry), Papa's Farm (for the West Texas A&M Dept. of Dance Centennial), along with original music for the ASU School of Film, Dance and Theater's productions of Bone Portraits and the world premiere of Charles L. Mee's soot and spit. Dr. Puccio is currently the director of the ASU Dixie Devils and serves as a faculty instructor of woodwinds with the ASU Sun Devil Marching Band.?Dr. Puccio exclusively plays Deering Banjos and Kazoobie Kazoos.

Jesus Alvarez (Archie) is a third-year theatre student at ASU. Jesus has performed as Adam in Divide with Binary Theatre Company and as Alex in 14 Hours to Megadeath with One Voice Community Center. Jesus is a jack-of-all-trades: he acts, designs, directs, stage-manages, and models. Jesus hopes to open his own theatre company someday.

Sabrina Dahlmann (P. Oui) is a second-year Psychology and Sociology double-major with a minor in Theatre. Sabrina will be going abroad this summer to Regensburg, Germany to study the German language and culture. Sabrina has played a host of other roles in the area, including Bethany in The 7 Layers of Bastian Bachman at the IceHouse and Christina in The Black Art with ASU MainStage. Sabrina is working to develop the first psychological field that focuses on performance.

Alejandra Gama (Ernessa) is a theatre major and a studio art minor at ASU looking to develop in the field of interdisciplinary art with a focus in sculpture, film and performance. Alejandra is the artist behind In Commemoration of a Little Bird, an installation art piece featured at Emerge 2014. Alejandra was also an ensemble performer for DisOrientation 2013. Alejandra is also working on Our Bodies, a 5-part photography series focusing on the topic of body image and gender roles. In addition to being an actress, Alejandra is also the scenic designer for Gutted.

Allie Goldstone (Jelly) has been performing since she was 5 years old. From a young age, Allie began doing gymnastics. As she grew up, she began performing acrobatics, aerial gymnastics, dance, pole dancing, and now burlesque dance. Recently, Allie has performed as Babette in Beauty and the Beast and the Hotbox girl in Guys and Dolls. In addition to acting in Gutted, Allie is also stepping up to help assist with costume and makeup design.

LeeVaughn Graves (Richard) is a theatre student who revels in science. LeeVaughn has performed as John Montague in The Haunting of Hill House, King Rupert in Jester's Cap, and as a butler in The 7 Layers of Bastian Bachman.

Anya Hernandez (Kai) is a freshman Theatre student, hoping to study costume design in the Design and Production concentration. Anya has a long performance history, including Martha in The 7 Layers of Bastian Bachman, Jane in Jester's Cap and Noil in The Girl Who Fell Through a Hole in her Sweater. Anya wants to make a career out of costume design, but she loves performance and dance.

Kelsey Kelleher (Mamma Laguna) is a costume designer in the ASU Theatre Design and Production major with a minor in Music Performance and Dance. She was the production designer for Emerge 2013 You N.0, the hair and makeup designer for ASU's Nation. She has also performed as the Priestess in Sea Monsters, as Erin in Sorry We're Closed and as Swan in Susan and the Scissor Women. Kelsey is also America's U.S. Miss Arizona 2014, 2014 Arizona Colleen Princess, and a former young ambassador to Northern Ireland and current Vice President of the a Friends of St. Patrick's AZ chapter. In addition to acting in Gutted, Kelsey is also the costume designer.

Taryn Lafferty (Shelly) is a third-year communications major at ASU. Taryn has been an actress of a number of years now, having taken part in a host of ASU student films. Taryn is from Thousand Oaks, California.

Colton Robertson (Aquarius) is a third-year Theatre and Arts Entrepreneurship student at ASU. Colton has a long history with theatre, starting in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho at age 7. Colton will be seen next as Dr. Noah Sellers in Red Planet Respite with ASU MainStage. Colton last performed as Jonathan in The 7 Layers of Bastian Bachman in The IceHouse in downtown Phoenix. Colton is the executive director of The UnTheatre Collective, a company he began earlier this year.

Sarah Todd Stansbury (Coral) is a second-year English Literature student. Sarah has been involved with several ASU performances, including The 7 Layers of Bastian Bachman and Nation. Sarah loves acting and literature and loves pursuing those passions at ASU.

Colby Terrill (Brack) is completing his first year in ASU's theatre program. Colby's first ever performance was in Orange Theatre's Blood Wedding as Leonardo and The Bride's Father. He is honored to be reprising his role in Blood Wedding with Orange Theatre in ASU's Lyceum Theatre this summer.

Sarah Zorman (Nixie) is a second-year ASU Theatre major with a minor in Digital Culture. Sarah is a member of the Sun Devil Colorguard and Mu Epsilon Theta Sorority. Sarah was last seen as Mr. Red in Nation on the ASU MainStage. Sarah has also performed as Emily Book in The Sparrow with Scottsdale Conservatory Theatre. This summer, Sarah will be on a national tour with The Academy Drum & Bugle Corps Colorguard.
