HAND TO GOD Comes to the Phoenix Theatre

If you thought Avenue Q was the worst thing theatre could do with puppets, you're going to want to sit down for this one. Trouble comes to Cypress, Texas in the form of a hand puppet. Jason's recently widowed mother encourages her son to join her in a Fundamentalist Christian puppet troupe, but when Jason's puppet takes on a life of its own, well... All hell breaks loose.

Hand to God is a co-production with Stray Cat Theatre, directed by Ron May. Eric Zaklukiewicz will be taking the lead as the troubled teen Jason and his perverse puppet Tyrone. Last seen as Tanya in Mamma Mia!, Elyse Wolf will tackle the role of Jason's mother, Margery. Pastor Greg will be played by Louis Farber, and taking the stage as Jason's crush, Jessica, will be Michelle Chin, last seen playing Shlatko/drums in Hedwig and the Angry Inch and as Olive in Bullets Over Broadway. Rounding out this talented cast will be Vaughn Sherman playing volatile teen Timothy.

Described by Variety as "Sesame Street meets The Exorcist," Hand to God is a fast-paced, irreverent comedy about love, grief, and what it means to be human.

This production contains mature language that may not be suitable for all audiences.

Hand to God opens on February 2 and runs through February 25, 2018. Tickets start at just $29 and are available to purchase by phone at 602-254-2151 or by visiting phoenixtheatre.com.
