Broadway Palm Dinner Theater Presents 'Hot August Nights Concert Series' Beg. 8/11

Mesa's Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre will begin it's Hot August Nights Concert Series on August 11, with a tribute to best-selling recording artist Barry Manilow.

CONCERT SERIES SCHEDULE:

August 11 - THE MAGIC OF MANILOW: Featuring Terry Davies and a lineup of stellar musicians and vocalists "The Magic of Manilow" pays homage to the music of one of the biggest-selling artists of our time, Barry Manilow. Manilow is best known for his catalog of hits that include the chart topping "Mandy," "Ready to Take a Chance Again," "Could It Be Magic," "Copacabana (At the Copa)," "I Write the Songs," "Can't Smile Without You" and many more. In the late 1970s five of Manilow's albums were on the charts, a feat equaled only by Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Mathis. Since February 2005, Manilow had been the headliner at the Las Vegas Hilton and performed hundreds of shows before ending his five-year association there.

Tickets for dinner and concert are $39. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the concert at 7:30.

August 18 - ABBA FAB: The Premier ABBA Experience: A tribute to the music of ABBA featuring Anne Davies, Chelsea Faulds and a 10-piece band. This multimedia production is a tribute to some of the greatest music produced in the 1970s and 1980s. ABBA, originally from Sweden, swept the world with their music back in the 1970s with songs such as "Waterloo," "Fernando" and "Dancing Queen."

Tickets for dinner and concert are $39. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the concert at 7:30.

August 19 and 20 - AZ DIAMOND: AZ Diamond, a high-energy group led by vocalist Eddie Kij, along with his handpicked band of professional musicians, has worked to replicate the glitter and vocals of the legendary Neil Diamond. Kij performs with the same magic, charisma and strong audience connection that has made Diamond so popular over the years. Find out why AZ Diamond is fast becoming America's favorite Neil Diamond tribute band. AZ Diamond performs all the classic Neil Diamond songs that have remained popular through the years such as "America," Kentucky Woman," "Solitary Man," Cherry Cherry," "Thank The Lord For The Nighttime," "Sweet Caroline" and many more.

August 21 and 22 - THAT KOOL BAND: That Kool Band performs all the classic rock ‘n' roll hits of the 1950s and '60s. The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Del Shannon, The Box Tops, Neil Diamond, The Doors, Jay & The Americans, Ritchie Valens, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Turtles, Elvis, The Monkees, Tommy James and The Shondells and more. The main entertainment at Glendale Glitters Jingle Bell Rockin' Nights and Tempe's Oktoberfest, That Kool Band is one of the Valley's most sought after oldies bands. That Kool Band is: Eddie Kij (vocals and guitar), Warren Cobb (vocals and lead guitar), George Grund (keyboards, sax, vocals, harmony) Marvin Forte (bass guitar, vocals, harmony) Glenn Meharg (percussion, vocals, harmony). That Kool Band performances are concert only. Beverages will be available for purchase.

Tickets are $15. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the concert at 7:30.

August 25 - PIANO MAN: The Ultimate Tribute to Billy Joel & Elton John: Two true superstars, Billy Joel and Elton John come to life in this multimedia tribute starring Terry Davies. Backed by his nine-piece band, sing, stand, laugh and cry as you witness in sights and sounds the music and memories created by Billy and Elton, two of the most successful artists in the history of rock and roll. Songs include "Piano Man," "New York State Of Mind," "Only The Good Die Young," "My Life," "Your Song," "Daniel," "Rocket Man," "Candle In The Wind" and more.

Tickets for dinner and concert are $39. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the concert at 7:30.

The Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre is located at 5247 E. Brown Road, on the southeast corner of Brown and Higley roads in the Alta Mesa Plaza. The theater is accessible from the Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) or the U.S. 60 (Superstition Freeway) via the Higley Road exits. Parking is free.
