Review: RING OF FIRE Pays Tribute to a Legend

The story of Johnny Cash, one of the most influential musicians of the twentieth century, comes vibrantly to life on stage in Arizona Theatre Company's crowd pleasing Ring of Fire: the Music of Johnny Cash.

We are taken on a journey lead by four principals (Trenna Barnes, Allison Briner-Dardenne, Michael Monroe Goodman, and Brian Mathis); we are shown a moving story of a poor boy who grows into one of the best-selling music artists of all time. As we progress through a songbook, unable to resist the urge to bob our head along, we witness Johnny discover love, faith, and success.

Jammed packed with 38 Johnny Cash songs, audience members will find themselves bouncing their feet along to famous, memorable tracks such as "I Walk the Line," "The Man in Black," and the title piece, "Ring of Fire."

Ring of Fire is a theatrical piece that proves just what the ATC is capable of producing - an amazing play with a shining ensemble cast, talent bursting at the seams as they pay tribute to Johnny Cash is such a spectacular, yet simple, way. It is a production that shows just how incredibly lucky we are to have ATC, fifty years strong.

This production of Ring of Fire runs until March 25th in Tucson, with a total running time of two hours (including a one 15 minute intermission). The Arizona Theatre Company' 2016-2017 season is sponsored by I. Michael and Beth Kasser. Tickets start at $25 a piece. They can be purchased at the box office at the Temple of Music and Art (333 S. Students can purchased rush tickets for $10 at all performances and half-price tickets are available for balcony seats one hour prior to curtain at the ATC box office.

Following Ring of Fire and closing out the 2016-2017 season will be Jeffrey Hatcher' commissioned play by the ATC, Holmes and Watson (April 15 - May 6).
