Dulaang Kalay, the campus-based theater organization of Kalayaan College in Quezon City, has just released the official posters for the performing arts group's one-day-only staging of Stephen Mallatratt's psychological period thriller THE WOMAN IN BLACK (based on the novel of the same name by Susan Hill) at Teatrino, Promenade, Greenhills on Friday, August 31, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. To be directed by William Elvin Manzano, THE WOMAN IN BLACK will star Jeremy Domingo and Reb Atadero.

Tanghalang Pilipino, the resident theater company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), opens its 26th season with Severino Reyes' immortal Filipino sarsuwela 'Walang Sugat' at CCP's Tanghalang Aurelio V. Tolentino from tonight, August 16 to 26. Highly esteemed film director Carlos Siguion-Reyna helms the production, and makes his stage directorial debut.

A past entry to both Metro Manila Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival, BONA, a critically-acclaimed work of Catalino Ortiz Brocka aka Lino Brocka (1939-1991) that gave the "superstar in Philippine entertainment industry," Nora Aunor, her Best Actress trophy at the Gawad Urian in 1980, will soon come alive through a stage adaptation by Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) starting Friday, August 24 until Sunday, September 23 at PETA Theater Center. The stage production stars multi-award-winning theater, movie, and television actress Eugene Domingo.

Filipino musical creators Romeo Candido and Carmen de Jesus' PRISON DANCER, a new musical loosely based on the five-year-old viral video featuring the dancing inmates of Cebu, Philippines' Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, won Excellence in Choreography for its director and choreographer, Jenn Rapp; Outstanding Ensemble Performance for its all-Filipino cast led by Broadway actors Jose Llana, Catherine Ricafort, and Albert Guerzon; and Outstanding Individual Performance for Filipino Canadian actor Jeigh Madjus, who plays Lola, a cross-dresser who teaches his fellow convicts how to dance, at the 2012 New York Musical Theatre Festival's Awards for Excellence ceremony held last night at Hudson Terrace.
