Manila, Philippines--Almost everyone is abuzz with the STOMP-fever inside the Cultural Center of the Philippines' (CCP) Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo as the main stage slowly comes together in a thick hectic air-- urbanized and industrialized with the hip backdrop and other stage production elements of STOMP--in preparation for its second Manila staging brought to the country by Concertus Manila and Lunchbox Theatrical Productions.

Importing a vast array of props and STOMP instruments to kick off STOMP's first performance--in a limited eight-day-run, which premiered last night, June 17, and runs until June 22--Production Manager Jason Culverwell sits down for a quick chat with BroadwayWorld.com to talk about the setting up and preparation of CCP's main theater stage.

"There's about 50 that are made up already so they're ready for tonight's show, and there's probably about another 50 that are in boxes that we can make up," Culverwell shares on the total number of brooms that a touring production of STOMP would typically carry around.

"We probably normally base it on around about five (brooms) getting broken per show, sometimes only one or two may be broken, other times six or seven," continues Culverwell, who first visited Manila in 2008 to 2010 to do a site check at CCP as a venue for STOMP in its 2011 Manila premiere.

STOMP showcases performers who use ordinary objects as musical intruments, i.e. brooms, dust bins, boxes of matches, plumbing, and supermarket trolleys, among others, while they show off their dance moves and flair for comedy.

Performed in more than 50 countries and before more than 24 million people, the show has won the Olivier Award for Best Choreography, an Obie Award, Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatre Experience, and a special citation from Best Plays. Its HBO presentation "Stomp Out Loud" received an Academy Award nomination, four Emmy Award nominations, and one Emmy Award. Some of its noteworthy TV appearances include The London 2012 Olympic Games' closing ceremony and the Academy Awards.
