Manila, Philippines, October 7, 2013--The creative team and cast of Repertory Philippines' 76th theater season finale, Mel Brooks' Tony Award-winning musical comedy "The Producers," met with the press earlier today.

The production's promo teaser trailer, which features Carlo Orosa as Broadway producer Max Bialystock; Topper Fabregas as newbie Broadway co-producer Leo Bloom; and Giselle Tongi-Walters as secretary/receptionist Ulla, was also launched earlier.

Adapted from the 1968 Brooks' film of the same name, "The Producers" was written by Brooks and Thomas Meehan, with songs arranged by Glen Kelly and Doug Besterman. As in the film, the story concerns two Broadway producers who scheme to get rich by overselling interests in a Broadway flop. The humor of the show draws on ridiculous accents, homosexual stereotypes and Nazis, along with many show business in-jokes.

The original Broadway production, starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, opened at St. James Theatre on April 19, 2001 and ran for 2,502 performances, winning a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards. It spawned a successful London production running for more than two years, U.S. national tours, many productions worldwide and a 2005 film version.

Besides Orosa, Fabregas and Tongi-Walters, the Philippine premiere of "The Producers," directed by Jaime del Mundo, will also showcase Robie Zialcita, who alternates in the role of Bialystock.

"The Producers" will run from Friday, November 15 until Sunday, December 15 at Onstage, 2/F, Greenbelt 1, Paseo de Roxas corner Legaspi St., Makati City.
