The Colonial Theater in association with The Pa Jazz Alliance & The Scranton Jazz Festival presents: The Swinging Jazz Nutcracker Suite performed by the Emmy-nominated Scranton Jazz Festival Big Band with music arranged and imagined by Milton “Shorty” Rogers and Duke Ellington. This exciting 17-piece jazz orchestra will take you on a holiday journey transporting you back to the Big Band era. You’ll be dancing in your seat while experiencing that swinging brassy sound with clever insightful story narration by Amy Banks and Joe Ciresi. Amy Banks, a professional actress, singer and television personality is originally from Minnesota, but now makes her home in Lancaster,PA. She has been a featured performer at Disney World, The American Music Theater, The Penumbra Theater to name a few, Amy has released numerous recordings embracing her love for jazz, motown and soul music. Joe Ciresi is in his 4th term as a PA State Representative. Prior to his time as a Representative, Joe was the director of advertising sales for the Kimmel Center. After receiving his degree in music from the University of Miami, Joe went on to perform in numerous theatre productions including: Peter Pan, The Music Man, Oliver Twist, and A Christmas Carol to name a few.
