The Philadelphia Orchestra, led by Music and Artistic Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, opens its 2026-27 season with Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 (Choral) and the United States premiere of Composer-in-Residence Joe Hisaishi's Orbis. The concert features vocalists Leah Hawkins, J'Nai Bridges, Issachah Savage, and Ryan Speedo Green, along with the Philadelphia Symphonic Choir directed by Joe Miller. Hisaishi's Orbis was composed as a companion piece to Beethoven's Ninth, placing the famous Ode to Joy in a new context.
